Trendi Kaihdin, together with Tampereen Liukuovitehdas, manufactures and installs blinds, curtains, cabinets, sliding doors, and partition doors. The Finnish company is known for its comprehensive product range, high-quality custom solutions, and turnkey delivery services. THE CHALLENGE

Rapid growth made spreadsheets and staff memory a risk

Trendi Kaihdin had experienced several strong years of growth. At times, the expansion was so rapid it became difficult to keep up with demand using existing systems.

The company's data existed in multiple places — Excel spreadsheets, folders, and staff memory. This fragmented approach made it increasingly difficult to manage the volume of information required for custom products and complex project sales.

Each project involved numerous details: custom dimensions for different apartments across multiple floors, varying delivery schedules, flexible pricing models (by square metre, unit, or matrix), and coordination across design, production, and installation teams. Managing large-scale projects with human memory or spreadsheets was becoming virtually impossible.

As turnover approached €1.5 million, the previous system was barely managing. With continued growth on the horizon, Trendi Kaihdin needed a professional ERP system that could handle complex, custom operations at scale.

THE SOLUTION

A flexible ERP built for custom manufacturing and turnkey delivery

In spring 2021, Trendi Kaihdin partnered with Pinja to implement an ERP system designed specifically for wood-based product manufacturing, sales, and installation. The solution launched in early 2022 and now supports both consumer sales and complex project sales.

Pinja's solution was selected primarily for its flexibility and customisability — essential for a business where the vast majority of products are tailored to individual customer requirements. The system needed to handle everything from simple consumer orders to multi-floor apartment building projects with different specifications for each unit.

The ERP centralised information that previously lived in disparate systems. Sales staff can now enter customer details, product specifications, price lists, bids, and delivery schedules into one system. Information flows seamlessly from the design and bidding phase through production to installation and invoicing, with the system automatically updating project status as work progresses.

 

The system supports flexible pricing models and allows sales teams to create unique packages for complex projects. Importantly, it maintains data accuracy throughout the supply chain — essential when coordinating multiple subcontractors and managing delivery schedules that must be neither too early nor too late.

Professional operations that support ambitious growth

After the ERP was implemented, Trendi Kaihdin more than doubled its turnover to over €3 million — growth that would have been extremely difficult to achieve with the previous fragmented systems.

The centralised system harmonised data and practices across the business. Now everyone receives uniform order confirmations regardless of who processed them, and teams can avoid redundant work even when multiple people handle the same case.

Bid calculation became significantly easier. Sales staff can monitor leads, edit quotes, and track financial performance in real time. The system prepares invoices that are virtually ready to send as soon as a sale is confirmed. Financial monitoring evolved dramatically — the team can now track business development on a monthly basis, which became essential as operations scaled.

Perhaps most importantly, information flows reliably throughout the entire project lifecycle. Details entered during design and bidding automatically flow through to production and installation teams in the correct format. Project status updates as work progresses, and information can be added or amended as needed without risk of data loss or miscommunication.

The company also manages billing and accounts receivable through the ERP, and plans to introduce an installation calendar that will optimise installer scheduling, including geographical routing and transport times.
